The Wicked Women behind Skein Collective, by Rebecca McGreevy

Back in 2019, a group of emerging creative women were brought together on Tmesis Theatre's Wicked Women course, ready to carve out our paths into the creative industries.

While I'm sure we were all excited to learn, and develop our skills as artists, I don't think any of us expected just how fantastic it would be to have a supportive network of creative women around us each session!

With Tmesis Theatre's Director Elinor and Producer Claire leading the way, we met inspiring creatives and entrepreneurs, exploring everything from how to create a website for your freelance work, to finding your unique selling point and what it means to be a woman in business.

Lucky to have started the course before lockdown, most of it was in person! Then onto zoom we went, staying connected and creating a huge digital grapevine project Life in Static.

When our time as Tmesis Theatre's Wicked Women drew to a close, we were inspired to stay connected and continue to support each other's development.

So Skein Collective was created!

Founded with the support and guidance of Tmesis Theatre, we launched with a digital project 'First Times', following the success of our final Wicked Women project 'Life in Static'.

Launching into 2021, we're looking forward to getting back into the studios and making in person again!

So get connected with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and check out this year's Wicked Women group here.
